Back from the Teachers refresher meet! Be a teacher!

Jai Gurudeva!!
It was a quick week at bangalore for Teachers refresher meet on the ashram. It was just half the teachers as the TRM for teachers working in the southern indian states will be held seperately. VM was paaaccckked!! This is just the beginning. Guruji had once said He wants a teacher for every postal pin code in India. Thats around 33000 teachers! Going by that we are about 5000 now and quite a few generations of teachers are yet to come. Generations seperated by when they do their TTCs!
The last TRM had Guruji’s physical presence in most of the sessions. This time He was doing the job thru Swami Pragyapada! And we used to have 100 teacher TRMs just a few years ago! Given that more than 70% of India and a large part of the world is in the YES!+ age group, lots more YES!+ teachers are needed to cover the whole globe. AS of now we are just 2 generations of YES!+ teachers. The first ones are handpicked by Bawa from among Part-1 teachers. The 2nd generation is the first ever YES!+ TTC that happened on the ashram! These 100 odd teachers should be starting to teach soon. A few have already started. Every year there shall be a YES!+ TTC somewhere on the globe! Most likely Bangalore ashram ! We would like to reach a target of stationing one teacher at each institute of the world! You guys would be lucky to choose YES!+ teaching as a career option. Its going to be a big hit in the years to come. It already is! Like Infosys was a big hit even when it was just about 100 people strong. just that not many knew about it. Today with 100000 people in the company the whole world knows.
Typically you spend 2 years and lots of your parents money slogging to get into an enginnering college,  medical or an MBA college. You have to think of training yourself to be a teacher also on these lines. You should be ready to set a plan of atleast 2 years of intelligent consistent dedicated effort. Just like people take a drop for an year to slog for CAT, with no guarantees of getting in anywhere, you should be ready to take out an year if you wish to be on the fast lane to be a teacher. And then dont sit idle. Work atleast 12 hours in a day! Learn new skills, put yourself in difficult situations, be ready to experiment with your life, do unconventional things, take responsibility. Strengthen yourself in the areas you are weak at by taking up challenges.

all the best!!

I am on my way from delhi to patiala! in shatabadi. There is a power plug on every seat! And with the reliance datacard catching the signal almost everywhere, i’m net connected virtually everywhere in india!:-)
So here are the pics from the course. Enjoy after a long wait !!!
Below are various groups. Its not all of them as a few groups missed out coming over and getting their foto clicked! or rather i missed out shooting them.

Above are a little more than half of the groups. If the missing groups send me their fotos I’ll put them up on the blog!

The course at chandigarh began with a bang and ended with a bang!!

O what a batch  of YES!+ this was!!! …Every single participant was awesome! I remember only a few names but together they all rocked!! …and they did it literally:-) We went to Rock garden for some cleaning on saturday!… It was nonstop fun from beginning to end with a couple tough moments for a few inbetween!
Overall am in love with the batch for their sheer innocence, fun and devotion.
I will be writing more about it in a later post. I am in the ashram on teachers refresher meet which will end on sunday night. Till then it may be very few/short posts.

Next week of fun with me begins in Patiala on YES!+ starting from 20th Aug!!.. The volunteers there are targetting 200+ new participants. The hall has a capacity of 500 people. So you still have a chance to fit in there, even lying down, if you intend to make yourself happier by attending some/all of the sessions( if you are a repeater), and attending all if you are a first timer :-) .

I clicked some fotos of the sky from the plane. Shall be posting them on the blog soon.
even some of the chandigarh course pics will also be seen on the blog soon!

till then
good night.

YES!+ in Chandigarh has a rocking start !!!

The YES!+ in chandigarh began yesterday with 136 new participants and about 25 volunteers-cum-repeaters! Superb teamwork and perfection-at-work were visible from all the arrangements that had been taken care by all the volunteers !! :-) . The course organising was LED by a team of new-to-organising set of vounteers. They did everything on their own with inputs and help from the oldies!!
From decorating the hall to welcoming the participants everything had a classs to it!

I will be posting more on the course tomorrow!

HT profiled me on 4th Aug on their HT city’s “not just another brick in the wall” column!! Here it is for U. Enjoy reading!! They have goofed up where they have mentioned IIT delhi, it should have been IIT mumbai. I have enlarged it from its actual size for better readibility.

The secret of two weeks spent at Infosys, hyderabad ! Revealed!

Technology runs in the DNA of my spirit which belongs to Guruji. Incase you didnt know this, Guruji is a B.Sc in Physics! So naturally if I meet some of my old techie friends I talk to them about stuff thats happening around and stuff they are doing.
Nandu (aka Nand aka Nandkishore) was hanging around in the ashram alternating with hyderabad during the YES!+ TTC. From the starting of his software industry career around 2001 to 2008, he has transformed himself into a SAP trainer for the corporate biggies like Microsoft, Infosys etc. A cross-country runner maverick from IIT bombay, Nandu was one year junior to me.  He had become my fan on the kopran project I spend a few months with him in 2001. He had caught my incurable passion for loving, developing, respecting and promoting supreme quality genius intelligent software in those months. I moved on to become full time Art of Living teacher but the intent of my software heritage had been passed on, even almost unknown to me! Nandu went to the US, did some kick-ass stuff with his software skills and soon he was in heavy demand as a free lance SAP consultant.  But his greatness was that though he could do it all by himself he did it under the banner of Sumeru software.  About a year ago he returned back to india and his home town hyderabad. Now to don another role. Of an SAP trainer. He was such good a trainer, his 1st batch students gifted him a colorplus shirt at the end of the training :-) To get a gift as personal as a shirt for training someone software is RARE!

I started talking to him about SAP. ( The foto above is nandu’s). He gave me a quick one hour session and I was already hooked. He was super good as a trainer. I said , “Can you come to chandigarh while am there and train me all this stuff during the day and I will have you sit in my YES+ in the evening ! :-) ” . He had to check his schedule. Few trainings in india were in pipeline and then he was supposed to leave for Dusseldorf, SAP headquarters in Germany. He was not sure of the pipeline though. I said to myself , O maybe sometime later. Next year maybe. And then the next I know is he is ON for a training at Infosys hyderabad. Not only this he had invited me to be with him and attend the training. Stay taken care on the infy campus. Being on the training would mean I postpone two of my scheduled YES!+ courses. I have rarely postponed on cancelled my courses in the past. But this time I did it! Chandigarh was postponed by 2 weeks and Avinash took the Gurgaon course!

20th july I was on my 11 hours sitting Volvo bus night journey to hyderabad from bangalore:-) Since it was the last available seat on this bus it was the middle seat on the last row. My back soon started to hurt from all the jumps of the bad road. I just walked up to the driver and told him I can’t sit there. He said, ” ok then sit on the empty seat next to me.” I graciously accepted. Atleast my back would not get any jolts. But it also meant i stayed awake the WHOLE night journey with headlights from upcoming traffic straight into your eyes! And this seat doesnt recline back! Its not meant for sleeping!.:-)
Ajit, the marketing and sales star of Sumeru training division picked me up from the bus station. His wife served one of the best idlies for breakfast after I had my bath followed by a drop to Infosys city by Ajit. The training began soon after I reached. I did no blink an eyelid of sleep till 5 pm of the training. and my left brain was ON all this while!! I know you are amazed!!. Even I am amazed !:-)

The next 2 weeks I was in the world of a technology student! I love to learn. And if I have a great teacher to teach it to me I dont want to miss on a moment’s learning! Nandu was amazing. He knew his subject so well he did not open the powerpoint presentations for almost any of the sessions. He was downright honest about stuff he did not know. And he was pointblank confident about his teaching abilities for the stuff he knew. Even as a trainer myself, I learnt a lot from him.  Now the infy guys around me had been 2 to 5 years into the industry without a break! And for me it was almost 8 years of gap! I realized it doesnt matter if you start writing code after such a huge gap, if you are good you will soon be on top! And its true for everything !! On the 4th day Nandu gave an assignment for which he gave a time period of one hour to finish. 10 minutes and 3 ( yes 3 ) lines of well thought code and I was done! The class continued to the next topic after one hour :-) . You have no idea how it feels to be on top of something which was your passion, after such huge time gap! Infact this inspired me to begin with making my blog in the avtaar you see it now :-)

On friday evening 25th july I started reading about blogs, what they should be, what are the best places to make blogs, what are the pluses and minuses of different locations and styles and various other things. Finally the blog was ready for informing to the world in the next 4 sleepless , foodless, no-moving-away from-the-laptop days!!

Two weeks in the technology energy space, am now trained on SAP’s programming language  and have a rollicking blog!!! The rest of the story you know!!

Another great learning that was reinforced was whatever you give to the world will come back to you many folds in future !!

Dooor kahin jab din dhal jaaye…!!

A sunset is the most spectacular moment of the day. The vast universe with its different colors conveys so much. It takes the spirit into a different plane. It conveys the end of yet another miniscule day on the planet! Here are a few pictures of sunset at different locations.
First two are in the ashram at the lake  :-) … The first one gives a blue tint to the lake and the sky. The second was clicked a little later. Far away you can see the lights at the entrance of gurukul inviting you!

Tranquil lake at the ashram !

My train journey begins in 6 hours !! C U all !! Wait for the next post!!

Tonight is the last here at infosys campus at hitech city of hyderabad. Just 4 hours more in this room that became home to the making of my blog, almost non-stop from friday night 25th july to friday morning 1st Aug. I think it could have happened in the energy of a technology packed place like this only where I would have come back to my techie energy all out!.

The journey from Hyderabad to Delhi on train is 27 hours. chandigarh journey another 5-6 hours. and then local travel and wait times amount to another 5-6 hours. A total of about 40 hours! I have a couple of good books to read on the way.

But you dont worry about your daily dose of an article from me. I have already written one. It will be on the site at 4 pm on friday 1st august while am on the train! magic u see!! ..Its one of those which has Guru moments. So I know you cant wait but you dont have a choice. Just 4 pm and its there!!… btw its solar ecllipse today between 12 noon and 6 pm. Normally its best not to eat anything at this time. I would be following it on train. You might want to , too.

goodnight!
